Interview with rapper "Lowercase"

Here is something I quickly put together for a local rap artist, Lowercase. It was shot with the Canon T2i/550D down in the Everglades near the Miccosukee tribe. I was with Alex Alvarez, sound man and future director, and Lowercase. The lens I used was the 28mm. You'll notice that at some points of the movie that there tends to be a flicker of darkness between shots. The reason for that is I kept hitting the aperture ring while manually focusing. You'll also notice that the camera a bit shaky. I shot this hand held with out a rig to steady the shot. This interview was totally shot on the fly, wasn't really prepared to do an interview because we ( Alex, Lowercase and me) were scouting location for the music video for Lowercase's song "Rebel Fleet". Sound was straight from the camera , no separated audio device was used.
As for the editing I used Final Cut 7. I usually use Apple Color for my color correction but since this was something on the fly I decided to use Light Kit 1.0 from Noise Industries. I tweaked the colors and effects abit to give the look that you see in the video. The text was done on FCP.
To be honest the interview and final result doesn't live up to my standards because I rushed it. Oh well... You film, cut and you learn.

Craigslist(CL), no matter what your feeling are about it, is great website to sell and promote services. Over the years I've gotten a lot of freelance work thru advertisements in CL. The only thing thats a draw back from the site is that it doesn't allow video from Youtube to be embedded. Its something to do with the HTML codes or something but there are ways around it. I found way to put a still image and link it with the YouTube site. Here a video that breaks it down, thanks to Super Geeks:

After watching this I looked around and found how to do it. Its really simple and I going to use this method to promote the hell out VPG.

Logo Animations: Apple Motion +After Effects CS5

Since I've gotten After Effects, been trying out different tourtrials and mixing them with Apple motion. Moving to After Effects from Motion has been a bit of a challenge but some things stay relatively the same. Apple Motion seem way easier and less intimidating then After Effects but thats because AF has more options to play with. What I want to focus creating more text and 3d intros.Like I said I've been combining Motion and After Effects to try to figure out what works best. Here are some examples.

Its like I can never find the time to blog about these things. So much to to tell, I'll try to keep things short and sweet. In the passed few months my DSLR rig has grown and turn in to a filmmaking beast. The rig now comes with shoulder mount, a new 17-85mm lens and 7'' inch HD screen. Its a bit getting use to but I was expecting that. I've done some test around Wynwood/ Art District and have recently shot some BTS (Behind the scene) of photographer Joseph Evans. The following video is a sample of the BTS I shot one early morning with Mr. Evans and a Model( who's name escapes me at this moment.)

I color correct the video using Lucas Visual FX's Lighting Kit and a bit of Apple Color. The full video will be out soon.

Adobe CS5 and Logic Pro is now part of VPG editing gear

Whats up everyone, got some spectacular news to share with you. Vid Production Group LLC now has a copy of Adobe CS5 and Logic pro. For those of you who dont know what the hell that means, it means I got a new editing suit and music making software.
Adobe CS5 is the latest in media editing software that come with Premier, Encore,After Effects, Dream weaver , Photoshop, Flash and other incredible programs. Logic pro is a music producing software by Apple. I've mostly made my music using Soundtrack and garageband, so this will be a great addition to my edit suite. I'll be making a new advertisement video with After Effects some time this month. I'll keep you posted.
